Well this depends on the OS you have:

Windows XP
Windows ME
Windows 98

I'll go through the procedures on all these OS'es

If you have Windows XP home/pro the disk of the OS has a boot up option..

1). Insert CD
2). Restart
3). wait till it say's: "Press any key to boot from disk"
4). follow instructions to reformat

Any other windows OS or Linux OS:

go to: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

download which version you have if your a linux user I recommend: Windows 98 SE Custom, No Ramdrive

Download and run, then insert Floppy disk and it will write the code for a boot disk:

how did you start the format in the first place. do that again and restart the format process over.

if you need a boot disk for win xp, and you never made one when your computer was working, get with a friend or a member of your family that has a pc with win xp and make a boot disk from their pc.

all you do is put a blank floppy disk then go into my computer. right click on the A: drive and click format. one of the options in there would be "create a windows startup disk".

First of all you should have made a boot disc for your computer before you even started the format. You need to get a disc with the basic system files and the format command on it, then you boot to that disc, then restart the format.

Try to reformat by starting the cpmputer again. If data on your hard disk is corrupted it is advisable to format the hard disk and reinstall the operating system (usually Windows XP) More details at http://fixit.in/format.html

If you can get to another PC, you can doanload and write a BOOT Floppy or CDROM from www.bootdisk.com

Boot from it, format the drive, and then reload your Operating System from the original CDROMs. (The Operating System is now gone based on the message you indicated, so you need to reload from scratch). WHY did you format the SYSTEM "C:" drive?
