I'm sorry I should have been clearer, that question was really misleading...What I mean is hardier. I've heard some breeds of horse such as New Forest, Criollo, ect are hardier and don't need to wear shoes ect. My family is from Greece (I live in the states) and many horses there do not wear shoes and are generally more durable. I was just wondering if there was any more classified breeds that had natural hardiness.

No breed of horse is particularly not costly to maintain. If you take care of them, feed them properly, do their feet as needed etc. etc. Horses are not a cheap animal. The easiest is the cost to buy a horse---the maintaince is what gets you.

It depends on if you are going to ride. If not, then mini's are a good bet. Or New Forest ponies because they don't need shoes. But it also depends on the horse. Some horses have wierd heels and need shoes to balance their feet.

A horse is a horse, of course of course. It does not matter, they are all very expensive. Maybe you should get a toy horse if you want one that is easy and inexpensive to maintain.

Drafts are the most cost efficient. they ARE good riding horses and eat less for body size than a shetland pony, because they are better with metabolism. basically it goes down with size. look for a small draft if you want a more COST EFFICIENT horse, because no one horse is cheaper to care for than another
