I am really passionate about the subject. I would really appreciate anyone who has worked in this field or is knowledgable in this area to give me some insight. Is this a good field? what should I expect that is not told to me about this field? Anyone have some advise on how to go about going into this career? I am aware there is not a lot of money in this type of law, so should I do another type of legal field early in my career or should I do this first and another field later? Any advise is appreciated

I am graduting from undergrad in a week and I am going to law school and I am pretty sure I want to concentrate on child advocacy law and international law. Pretty much I want to eventually work on Child advocacy issues internationally

I would imagine Child Protective Services is always on the lookout for lawyers willing to work for significantly less than you would find in the private sector. Every government branch makes use of legal counsel and CPS is one agency that often doesn't receive significant amounts of funding.

As far as advice goes I would open a private practice and do any & every job I could get my hands on. You'll be better able to build a livelihood and at the same time it gives you an opportunity to practice different kinds of law (including the odd child advocacy case).

Best of Luck

You don't need any legal experience to be a child advocate. Many children need an objective party to make sure their best interests are met in court. I don't know how you go about becoming one, but the need is great. The only drawback is the heartbreak.

If you are passionate go for it. Ask your local legal aid if they nreed a child advocate. They should have ideas on who needs such.

The way to be the best advocate you can be, is too listen to the people you serve.

Volunteering is great way to get your foot in the door.

contact your local CASA branch. Most child advocates are volunteers. Regular people who just take a little course to become certified, not legal professionals.
