It has nothing to do with the fact that it is similar to ER. ER is losing ratings due to actors mocing on and the original audiance has changed. One of a TV shows big things is having a cute guy in the show which ER is lacking. Adding all the little new people is not helping....so what do the producers do? Come up with a new show and with a similar story line. It works, it always does. Just because you don't like it does not hurt them one little bit with the ratings they are getting.
