Sounds like you are aiming at an inside lavatory for Christmas!
1. EMT box etc - don't know
2. Compression connector - in the UK, this expression means a brass doodah which is used to join two (or more - some are T-shaped) waterpipes. Should have a brass nut which screws over each end, and tightens down a brass or copper ring (known as an "olive") onto the pipe, to seal the connection.
3. Zinc flat washers are usually silver-coloured discs, with a hole in the middle
4. Steel pipe nipple - don't know, and sounds as though it might get rusty, if used for water piping.
5. Ballcock shank washer - sounds like it might be a rubber disc that the pivot end of the ballcock presses on when it floats up on top of the water in the cistern, to cut off the incoming water when the cistern gets full.
6 and 7. The Popular Mechanics items - heaven alone knows, so find a popular mechanic and ask, or look for their website
8. O-rings - rubber rings which are used as seals - usually black
9. Eye-screw - something metal with a screw thread on it, but with a ring at the top, rather than a normal screw head.

Methinks you may be tackling a job which might be a bit beyond you. Oh well, it's one way to learn!

Surely it doesn't matter if you don't follow the instructions to the exact letter . Improvise !
