Psychological studies by Freud, and collegues actually suggested that women feel emotions more than men do. The cause of this is yet to be determined however, seeing that the male and female brain is much the same.

More!!!
Yes women feel stronger than men. I don't know why. It's a generic thing?
We're talking about emotions. Because the physical attributes to this a whole lot. Women can't punch their fists into the wall or whack someone's *** when their pissed. For men, their emotions are released in usually violent outbursts which is something women are usually incapable of. I mean the most violent thing women do would be those hand-smacking catfights which even the term itself is used as a mockery. So no women don't feel emotions as strongly as men do. Women feel emotions stronger than men. Much stronger...

This is something i was thinking about only last night.

(note to self, i must get out more)

The reason is i've become much more emotional as i've got older, as a teen and in my 20's i was hardend to a lot of things and nothing got to me.
In my 30's and now i'm very emotional, i even cry for christs sake and would never have dreamt of doing that before.

There have been some extremely stressful times that must have affected how i deal with certain situations, end of relationships, losing a close friend, being told i had a tumour and cancer were so extremes of emotion that it opened me up.

Men are allowed to show emotion now, you only have to watch I'm a Celebrity to see all the guys there crying and for years women wanted men to open up, but has it gone to far?
Are the men of today not the men we used to be?

The question is do we FEEL them as strong and that's almost impossible to quantify, we judge them by how much the person is SHOWING the emotion and that's not the same thing.

A football crowd of men watching their own team is extremely emotional, much more than the odd woman you see there.

My opinion is that we all feel them at the same strength but the persons body that deals with them at diffrent levels be it man or women, it's down to the individual rather than a male/female divide.

Its an odd question coming from a man. Usually men are complaining that women are too emotional. It's always been my understanding that women feel emotions more strongly then men.

I think that men and women feel emotions differently. That is to say that men and women will have different emotional reactions to the same situations. Some particular emotions will usually be stronger in one gender than the other.

One important factor in emotional development is our upbringing. Boys and girls are taught from a very early age to react in very different ways. What might be acceptable for a girl to be upset by would lead to a boy being branded a "cry baby", while when behaving badly a girl will be told off while "boys will be boys". To say this another way - one of the reasons men and women are different is that we force our children into one of two paths and discourage them from adopting traits of the other path.

So to conclude it is my belief that men and women do not usually feel the same emotions in the same circumstances but this behaviour is partly because of their gender and mostly because of the gender roles forced upon them by society. If raised identically two people of different genders would have a very similar range of emotions.

Of course hormonal differences are a factor too and these vary between genders, ages, populations, dietary factors and so on and as such are almost as individual as a person's mind is. So although hormones are an emotional factor I personally do not think our gender influences this factor as much as one may first assume.

How are you defining the word "feel" in this instance?

Studies I'm familiar with indicate that women are more likely to express behaviors associated with a wider range of emotion than men but the word "feel" can't really be quantified easily. Also some emotions, like anger, generally exert greater influence on men then on women.

Let's re-phrase that...do men feel emotions as strongly as women do? Most men don't have a drop of emotion in them to begin with, let alone have more of it than women! So the real question is: do men have emotions at all? I would say no.

Women tend to be more emotional, but there are some men who are tapped into their emotional side and do not mind showing it. When a woman shows it, it is expected of us. But women are more emotional and caring because of the roles we play in life. In today's society the lines are definitely blurred but I would say women are.

i believe women and men feel emotions equally, some more than others depending on their personality-- not gender. however, it may seem that women are more emotional because women generally make many choices based on emotions, while men are more unlikely to do so.
