In a lunar eclipse, the earth is between the sun and the moon. Hence, there is a shadow on the moon and it looks dark.

In a solar eclipse, the moon is between the sun and the earth. The earth is within the shadow of the moon, and the sun is obscured.

An eclipse refers to the phenomenon of one body passing into the shadow cast by another body. In astronomy, the best-known type of eclipse occurs whenever the Sun, Earth and Moon line up exactly. If this occurrence is at the time of a full moon where the Moon passes through the Earth's shadow, it is called a lunar eclipse. The type and length of a lunar eclipse depends upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital node. If the lining up of the Sun, Moon and Earth occurs at New Moon, the event is referred to as a solar eclipse. The next total lunar eclipse will take place at 23:22(UT) on March 3, 2007.[1]

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. This configuration can only occur during a New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth.

A Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse are points in the orbits of our Solar System where the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned.

A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Moon (when it is during a Full Moon) passes through the shadow cast by Earth. The shadow cast onto the Moon may not always be the same due to the lunar orbit.

A Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon aligns in ecliptical orbit with the Sun and the Earth, temporarily blocking the Sun and allowing the Sun's corona to be seen with the naked eye.

During a lunar eclipse, the earth is blocking the light from the sun reaching to the moon...but during a solar eclipse the moon is blocking the sinlight from earth...

Which makes a huge (and i mean it) difference.
