Suspect that it is 2 to three years old, right?

Check the capacitors to see if they are swollen on top, or if there is light brown foamy, goo, oozing out, the tops should be flat, and the bottom plug should not protrude toward the mainboard.

If so, you need your fav. techie to change them out. They go for about 50 cents to 85 cents, each, plus shipping. The labor shouldn't be over about $45.

There are offered services in the internet, for repair.

New mainboards start at $35 at http://pricewatch.com just make sure you get the correct one for your CPU!

If the capacitors, small cans standing on end, are looking good, you might want to check the PowerSupply with a load tester, they are about $12 to $19, at http://computergate.com or http://newegg.com and you would need the digital meter that is about $5.99 at http://harborfreight.com

Best of luck!

Try booting in safe mode.

I know what you are talking about. On my lovely *cough* emachines , it says the intel graphics thing died, for lack of a better term every time I run google earth.

You may have only used one program for spyware. Try Avast! Antispyware.
