If you got a positive test at home, then you should go to the dr and get a blood test done. It all depends on the amount of hcg in your urine at the time you take the test. The only way to get a false positive, is if you look at it after the valid time of lie 5-7 minutes. If that was the case, then what you saw was the evaporation line. this has happened to me before.

Everyone is jumping the gun on the whole go to the hospital. Hospitals are expensive and if it is not really an emergency you are taking up time that could be spent on someone who is really sick. However, go to your family doctor or a doctor you trust will listen to you tell them what you told us and ask him/her if he would give you a beta test or blood test to check levels of hcg. that will tell you for sure or not, however you have to be prepared for the fact that you may have been pregnant and are not anymore. I had a m/c a week after 3 pos hpt's. The day I had the first beta i was down to 4 hcg when I should have been at 17,000. hcg should double every other day. when it doesn't it can be a sign of m/c or eptopic pregnancy. So you can go get the beta done or wait and see if you get another pos hpt then go back to the clinic.

I would do want the doctor says and take another test. However a blood test is pretty accurate, it would be able to measure a smaller amount of HCG than versus a urine test. As far as symptons every pregnancy is different but I didn't feel anything until about week 6-7.
Wish you the best.

The same thing happened to me. But I took three ept tests. And they all came back positive. I went to the doctor they ran all these tests and gave me an internal ultrasound which is not very comfortable and a blood test .Everything came back negative. Sometimes a pregnancy test can give you a false positive. Read the back of the box's it will tell you everything. Good luck

False positives are not very common with HPT. You may have had a chemical pregnancy. That is when the egg becomes fertilized and your body starts to produce HCG and become ready for a pregnancy but for some reason or other the egg never implants into the uterus, you usually end up having bleeding within a week or so just like a normal period. This happens often but most women don't realise because it will seem just like a late period.

To me a positive is a positive. I'd wait another week and take another hpt. If it shows up negative again, go to the hospital and demand a blood test. Good luck

The hospital does the same thing with a urine test that you do at home, they use a HPT, blood test are more expensive and time consuming, so they try to not use them unless you've tested pos to their HPT. Give it a little more time, and go back.

well first off never rely on a pregnacy test that you can buy at a store why? because you can have urinary tract infection and it will say positive for pregenacy. i would go back to the doctor with whatever symptoms you have and ask for a blood test but i would wait about another 2 weeks and do so. good luck.

I know waiting is nerve wrecking but the best thing is to wait a bit. Some tests are false positive or false negative. Good Luck!!

I would do what the hospital tells you to do. Thay can right and they could be wrong so..... Sometimes tests can be wrong so... If you are wanting to get pregnant then just keeping thinking positive about the situation. If you don't want to be pregnant than just also keeping thinking positive. Hope I helped you.
