Man who ever the **** said jimmy page is the most influential guitarist needs to get a grip. He was good, great even but in terms of being influential he had or gave nothing on the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman. Page was solid but these guys changed the way the guitar was played and paved the way for guitarists such as most of those mentioned above.
I'd also like to mention others such as Chet Atkins, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Dicky Betts, Mark Knopfler, Slash, The Edge, George Harrison, Stephen Stills, and the like who haven't got a mention as yet. But it's got to be hendrix for mine.

People have already said it, but hands down Dimebag Darryl Abbott and/or Jimi Hendrix.
If you're looking among the living, Zakk Wylde is great too and if you're looking for a bass guitar player both Jason Newsted and Rob Trujillo (formerly and presently of Metallica) kick major a**!
But the fastest guitarist alive is Skwissgar Skwigelf of Dethklok. The second fastest is Toki Wartooth also of Dethklok.

Andres Segovia - classical guitar player.
I bet Kurt Hammet of Metallica would say the same.
