my older brother lets his kid that is only 7 years old listen to rap music that has all the bad words in it, do you think it is ok for a kid that young to listen to rap? tell me the truth on what you think about that! say how ever you feel about it......

I think it's very inappropriate for a child, even a teenager to listen to some of the music out there. It's not just rap.
I've heard 4 year olds repeating lyrics in some of these songs, and they are lyrics that shouldn't be on their tongues. I think there are lyrics that are giving children, and adults for that matter, a misrepresentation of life. With songs about sex, pimps, drugs, murders, etc...it tends to steer kids in that direction.
They learn what they listen to. If you sing a kid the ABCs, he'll sing it back to you. If you sing him Tupac, he'll sing it back to you. As adults we shouldn't allow this type of music for our children.
They hear these messages enough without having to fill their heads with them through music, which is supposed to be uplifting and inspiring.

Maybe, it kinda depends on the content of the music. Some rap is ok. Will Smith, Lil Romeo, Bow Wow would be considered PG rap. Eminem, Snoop Dog, and some others would be PG 13. These might be ok for the 7 year old as long as you explain that what they are talking about is grown up relations and the drugs and guns get them in trouble. Now other groups like ISP they are totally rated R and should only be listened to by people who are familiar with the content of the music.

NO, I don't think it's appropriate for any child to listen to any kind of music that puts down woman & talks about nothing but being rich & flashy. It's irritating. There is SOME good rap *mainly old school* that is ok for them to listen too, but kids are growing up too fast these days. When I was in Kindergarten I wasn't listening to much more than kiddie songs. Now they make kids sing grown up songs to sell to you. It's ridiculous.

No..I think that is way too young! 7 years old is too young to be exposed to all of that violence and sexuality. If he listens to that kind of stuff at the age of 7 then what will he be into when he is 16? Maybe if it was edited, but even the the music is pretty bad.

It's not OK for anyone to listen to rap music. It lowers your intelligence. Don't do this to a 7 year old kid or yourself.

Well it depends, I have a son and he listens to rap but I listen first to make sure it's appropriate.. Curse words are not!!! Check it out, sit down with him and listen, if you like it then yes if not no!! There are some positive rap songs out there with no curses look into it..

I believe that they should not listen to it. It used to be that you did not use fowl language as freely as it is used today. It is in man to get continually worse and it needs to be up to each one of us individually to reverse that. They start listening to it then they start talking like it and using the fowl language. Where do they go from there? It is just the start of a slide down. Rap is so much about disrespect that I do not think it is something that children should get involved in. We need to teach our children to respect. Raising children right and to be upstanding, respectable, citizens is the most important thing we can do in life. I am 29 with 3 children and love them and trying my best and leaning on God for help and direction.

Do you really need to ask this question? It's common sense. Of course it is NOT okay for a child that young to listen to rap music with curse words.
Tell him to stop IMMEDIATELY.

No because he will get suspended and get into this "G" thing and beat other kids up. Believe me let him listen when he is 13 or older or you will have to see him getting suspended from school alot and he might call you curse words.
