Does anybody have any ideas on how to bring a shine back to my trucks paint job? I used buffing compound on it about a month ago and I don't know what else to do. I think it was ALOT shinier before I used the compound and buffer.

I also waxed the truck after I buffed it.

you need to bring the compound to a small parts per million in steps its just like sanding.. the whole prossces you should start off wet sanding then move to a rubbing compound then to a poilsh and then wax

Depending on what year the truck's paint job is, you may have used the wrong buffing compound. Some waxes and buffing compounds are formulated for the newer paint jobs, clear coats, etc. Some others are targeted more towards classic/older paint jobs. The only you can do really is check your materials, and try and go over it again. Regardless of using wax or buffing compound, you need to make very certain that all the compound or wax is removed or it will oxidize, and can permantly ruin an expensive paint job

After buffing you need to use a polishing compound. You may have damaged the paint with the buffing compound.
Try some finishing polish from an auto supplier.

There is a process where proffesionals will use extremely fine grit sand paper to take the top coat of the paint off, this will bring bak some of the shine to the finish. Of course the best idea would be to get it repainted, but who can afford that. Waxing is only temporary, as is this, but this lasts for much longer

Take it to the professional car wash and tell them that you want to use the new product called Rain or Shine...its a part of the package they offer, might be referred to as a top coat.... Used it on mine after severe sun damage and it looked awesome. I think its like $3 more to the total cost of the wash! Good Luck!
