Where the trees stop growing is called the tree-line. This is caused by extreme environmental conditions which the trees cannot survive in, such as cold and/or severe wind. There are also other types of tree-lines. See the definition in the link below for a better explanation.

Trees do grow on mountain tops. Virtually all of the Appalachian mountains are covered by trees.
Trees do not grow above the "tree line." Above 17,000 feet elevation, the air is too thin, it's too cold, not enough moisture, no top soil, so trees cannot grow.

The smaller loose debris, fertile soil are all in all possibility to be eroded -- washed down (by employing water), blown away (by employing wind) or further down (by employing land slides). => low develop means. * The plant life on the suitable of the mountain have greater mortality fee by using land slides. the extra beneficial the tree the extra possibility to be felled by employing wind. * The timber on the backside could desire to enhance taller (extra opposition) to get get adequate mild. timber on the suitable are extra uncovered... in all possibility?
