Unfortunately, University of Phoenix does not have the same quality reputation that a public university, such as Unversity of Florida or University of Ohio has. Clearly it is better than no degree, but there is a stigma with it, depending on who you talk to.

In general, people try to go to the best school they can. In economics, its called signaling. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signaling_%28economics%29

People know that a Harvard MBA is a signal for a quality worker. It's a signal because Harvard is hard to get into and that standard has a certain quality associated with it.

On the flip slide, people don't respect a degree that you can simply buy, from a degree mill. It's because anyone can get it and there are few standards.

Somewhere in the middle is University of Phoenix.

I know that people work hard to get the degree, but it is still not as respected as a traditional degree. Think about that before you invest time and money in the degree.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER

As a former student, I know it is terrible. Intel for one will not hire UOP graduates, they dont consider it a quality Univ.

Look at the following places

www.uopsucks.com

www.RipOffReport.com (search UOP)

Then simply search yahoo or google for "UOP sucks"

I lost about 6K dollars going there for roughly 4 classes. I finally had my can full when my last teacher simply took off for 2 weeks. (the class was 5 weeks total.)

Its a terrible place, and a waste of your money. Look for other places online, and then yahoo or google search the name of the university followed by "sucks." From here you can see the good and bad.

Too many websites devoted to why UOP sucks should be a hint.

Do you ever hear a neighbor bragging that they graduated from Devry in the 90's??????

Be sure to check out your local community colleges - most will transfer to larger schools - are cheaper - and most offer online classes now too.

I became a national registered paramedic there. It was alright for me. it's not ASU but the price is right and the teachers know what they're talking about. Good luck.

online courses are harder than they are made out to be i wouldnt reccomend it unless your strong at reading and interepting classes like chemsitry and or math online and understanding them with out someone lecturing and showing you in person what is going on. its good for general ed courses though..
