I don't have a wife. I am one. And it's my hair. If I want to cut it short, I will. Right now I'm growing it out though because it wasn't long enough to put up for my wedding, and I want to wear it up for my little brother's wedding next May.

if any man is smart the would never say "let" her have short hair, it is her choice, would you allow your wife "let" shave.
