umm i think that would have to be like one of avenged sevenfolds guitarists even though i don't like the singer. they are pretty good. my fav. bands are taking back sunday and green day

THIS generation? Well in my opinion there are a few. it depends. Tom Morello is definitely a favorite of mine. Jack White also. oh geez how could i forget John from the Chilli Peppers. ooh and Daron Malakian from System Of A Down. theres more but im kinda pressed for time here.

I think that Frankie Iero of My Chemical Romance is the best alternative rock guitarist. He plays the shows with 100% of his energy and always plys great. He makes his parts quickly and they sound really good. Another good thing is that he is really hot too!

Put me down for Tom Morello from Rage/Audioslave again. Dude is amazing at experimentation and straight ahead rocking. Plus he's uber-smart and a good guy.

And if there was a category for best bass player. You know it would be Les Claypool.
EDIT: Whoever said Serj Tankian, hes not known for his guitar playing. Do you mean Daron Malakian? Even if, SOAD doesnt deserve that kind of award. I do like them tough.
