There is no Ban on Christmas. For true Christians, it is the celebration of the birth of Christ. It is performed in Churches and in the home...not in the shopping mall.
Some political minded conservative Christians are attempting to use the issue of whether to greet people with Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas as a political wedge issue.

There is no BAN on Christmas. There is just the intent of widening the Christian perspective to include Jews, Muslims, etc. and encouraging people to simply wish "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." That way, there is no offense to another person's religion. Christians are not the only ones who celebrate a most holy time this time of year. I know that there are a lot of Christians who think this is their country who believe that this is "sacrilegious," but keep in mind how you would feel if someone wished you "Happy Rammadan" with no concern that that is not what you believe. It's just asking that you keep your mind open to others around you.

There is no ban on Christmas. Right wingers have fabricated the legend of a "war" on Christmas just to give themselves another plank on their great conspiracy platform. Take a walk outside tonight. Watch a little television, especially the ads, but also the specials. Does it LOOK like there is a "ban" on Christmas? Talk about making mountains out of mole hills.

What "ban" on Christmas? There is no ban on Christmas, just respect for all holiday traditions instead of just yours.

I read this by Lou Dobbs this morning on cnn.com and it explains why they do that and why only Christmas trees are acceptable:

Happy reading!
I personally think that it blows. It's just a holiday, and to the best of my knowledge, our country was founded by Christians seeking refuge from religious persecution.

I'd love to answer this question but i would be classed as racist here in the U.K.
Although we are often told we may upset the Muslims if we celebrate a christian holiday in our own christian country !
Oops there i go upsetting Muslims.
