My ex husband - the one who left me for another woman - appears to have changed his mind about the whole situation. Too little, too late for me. But I am curious - what is it that makes them have regrets? Is it the fact that the person they dumped is happy? Is it the fact that the person is now happy with someone else? Or do they realize that moving in with the "other person" changes the whole dynamics of that relationship - all of a sudden the grass is not greener? For anyone who has had their ex reappear with a changed mind - what was their reason??

think the biggest reason they change their mind, is they are not as happy as they thoufgt they would be, and now seeing the person they dumpted happy and confident, they now see her as a different person than the person they left. but nothing can be taken back once done, there is no going back to what it was, once trust is gone. i would say he is not happy with the other woman, and realiazes he was happier with the woman he had, a lesson sometimes learned too late to do much about.

Sometimes they realize that the grass was not greener. Sometimes it's guilt. And sometimes it's just a territorial thing. They don't want you but they don't want anyone else to have you. Ever have a dog? He'll have an old toy or bone that's been lying out in the yard forever, totally ignored. Then one day a strange dog or cat comes by and goes over to sniff at that toy/bone. And suddenly your dog goes nuts, barking and growling and the fur flies. He chases off the invader, grabs that toy/bone and hauls it to another part of the yard where he will guard it for a day or two. Then for the next few days he will keep an eye on it but not go near it. After that - it's same old same old and once again the toy/bone will lie there totally ignored. Basically - men are dogs.

It could be all of those reason you listed. Sometimes, people don't realize what they have until it gone and he probably figured it out (once he left you) that the chick wasn't cracked up to what he thought she would be. Cheating and leaving a spouse for a lover NEVER works. You see, as long as the married person cheats the lover (as well as the spouse) finds that exciting. It's fun for them to sneak and creep around. Well, once the the married person leaves spouse and become more involved with that person, the excitement runs low or out and the relationship is no longer exciting. I applaud you for not taking this clown back. Guess he learned a valuable lesson. Good for you and Good luck.

I have a spin on it.

My ex and I were young when we started dating, and he left me after 2 years and dated (even moved in with) another girl for 7 months. They broke up, he moved out and started contacting me again. I wouldn't talk to him at all for months, then on the phone, and finally about 5 or 6 months later I allowed him to take me out. We've been back together ever since, and he has been incredible for almost a year now.

His reasoning? He was young, immature, and didn't know a good thing when he had it. It took being away from me for him to realize what he had.

Many guys return because their adventure just really wasnt worth it. Many are disillusioned, as they think it will make them happier and it never does. Then they realize they just made the biggest mistake of their life and are just as surprised when their mate doesnt take them back. They just dont understand what being faithful means and can never seem to remember their wedding vows either. So they think that since they are men, taking for granted that women understand men, that men are stupid, do stupid things, women should expect men to do stupid things but that women should just forgive and forget when men do stupid things like they never happened in the first place. Majority of men never find happiness in these affairs and truly regret getting into one. Majority are not taken back by the way, so they lose all

It's like he is making you a back-up. Since his new relationship didn't work out, he can fall back and have you right there. It makes him jelous knowing that you could be interested in someone else and not him, and he wants to make sure you love him and no one else. That is why he is coming back because he wants to make sure you aren't happy with someone other than him. Let him suffer, don't go back and say you have a new love interest (lol). Just watch, when you say no, he is going to go right back to that other girl.

I think it is because they realize the whole dynamics of the relationship are different once they move in together.

It could be one or all of the reasons you stated. My ex said he realized he couldnt live without me. Too little too late, like you said.

Remorse?
He feels lonely?
He misses what you had?
He realized that Ms. Wonderful was really Ms. Bossy BiAtch and realized how good he had it before.

Also, his ego can't take that you are happy without him...

Good luck
