basis for the first proffesional opinion. Hence if both opinions are the same, then you have found the right answer. On the other hand if they disagree you go with the opinion you're more comfortable with if true. Is this correct?

Tricky Question...Human beings tend to think in terms of either/or...This kind of thinking is called dialectic thinking in philosophy. The philosophy of Hegel is based on this idea...there is energy in thought that there is one truth in any situation...It is either A or it is B...As you said in the notes on your question, if both professional opinions agree on say option A, then you have consensus...If on the other hand, they disagree, then EITHER A or B would seem to be the answer...EITHER it is black or white...Problem is this leaves out the middle option...Much of life isn't either option...It is somewhere between the two...It is the third option...The synthesis of position A AND B....Nor A or B...Take a look at these websites for more detail on this:

I would say that if you get second opinion it's because you didn't like the first one. Depending on if the second opinion is the same as the first then you get a third opinion. What if all three opinions are different. How many opinions do get?

yes there is such a thing as a third opinion, if i get three opinions on a matter, the last is of course the third opinion. no to the second question, and no to the last question.

Third opinion always comes as the choice of first opinion.

You get as many opinions needed to find out the best course of action... It all depends on what you are trying to prove. If it is a life or death situation, get as many opinions as you can before deciding...

I think you are thinking to hard. And does it really matter? You are going to go what feels right with you. Opinions are justifications.
