Make sure the plugs in the back of the computer are in the right holes.
Make sure the plugs in the back of the computer are pushed all the way in.
Make sure the volume is not muted in windows
If still no sound make sure the drivers for the sound device are installed.
If you have a sound card and the drivers are installed then go into the bios and make sure the onboard sound device is disabled or enabled if you dont have a sound card.
If still no sound then and you have a sound card then your sound card is bad.

If you have speakers, the following
* Make sure your speakers are plugged in correctly
* Make sure if your speakers are turned on if they require a sperate power source
* Make sure that the volume is turned up on the speakers if there is volume button on the speakers
* Volume setting in Windows (2000\XP)
Start
Settings
Control Panel
Sounds and Audio Devices
On the 'Volume' Tab under 'Device Volume' make sure that the slider in is middle
Make sure the mute option is not checked
check the option 'Place volume icon it the taskbar'
* Plug in a set of headphones into the speaker jack - if you hear sound the problem could be with the speakers, no sound the problem could be with sound card

first check the little volume thing is at the bottom of your screen is on, then check that your speakers are getting power, lastly check if the cable that connect your speakers to your computer, if there isn't one there might be a problem, it should be plugged into the hole with the speaker picture next to it. if all this is connected and checked and it still doesn't work try connecting your speakers to another item such as an ipod. if it still doesn't make sound, there broken. if it does the little outlet might be broken or mislabled.

Did you check your connections? Did you turn the volume up? Do you have a sound card? Have you ever had sound on your computer?

Like mine - your sound card is prolly bad. I bought a new one and can't get that one to work either. Ask the guy at the computer shop to write down steps for you to try to fix it.
