I don't think Iraq can be "won" regardless of who is president. It is up to the people of Iraq to decide whether they want to live in peaceful co-existence with each other. It is also up to them to decide what kind of government that they want. We can't do it for them. I suppose a relatively peaceful Iraq with no foreign army of occupation and with a functioning government could be considered a "win."

Iraq can not be won, because Iraq does not want to be won. I served over there in the military and the people there do not want us there. Islam teaches that to change the way thier government is structured, the way they treat thier women, and simple things like this would comprimise the thier faith. Islam in the Americas, Europe, and Britian is not true Islam. True Islam cannot be lived in these countries, because there are laws that protect women, children, and individual rights that contradict Islam. They believe that it is thier duty as good Muslims to fight the Americans and kill as many of us as they can...so no, we can't and we son't, unless we simply take over and kill everyone, and that won't happen.

Iraq is lost because it is an immoral war
you went to war on basis that Iraq did not obey an UN resolution, the UN did not authorise the USA to act in its name. Consequently yo will alwys be seen as an unjust invader, you can not rule a population that doesn't want to be ruled.
you will retreat claim victory and control no more than the few block you currently hold
you will how ever pro mote terrorism, anti Americanism and western hatred for 100 years because of your stupid actions

I dont think we will win in Iraq with the strategy we are using right now, that is, going on small patrols down streets in cities we know are over run with insurgents and getting guys blown up by IED's. Maybe we could centralize our forces into one area, such as one of the villages, and remain in Iraq as a presence to watch over things and assist with Iraqi led operations, such as wiping out a weap. cache or taking down top Al-Qaeda leaders. Small things like that that actually get something accomplished and make a bit of a difference. I dont think Bush being in office has much to do with our success in Iraq, we're just not used to fighting these guys who sneak around and blow up civilians. Just my two cents.

With Bush or no, this is a combat that has been taking place for thousands of years. Us killing innocent people isn't going to make things better, just worse.
