Your scalp is dry. From the relaxer chemical, being more exposed in the braids and the winter is so drying your scalp needs more moisture. Try Sulfur 8 braid spray. It will provide moisture and the sulfur will help with the itching. Try using the mild version (baby blue label) the smell is not that strong.

It's probably because of the chemicals that you put in your hair when you relaxed them. All that activity on your scalp is irritating it. Try deep conditioning it (even with the cornrows in) and it should help out. Otherwise you could put some vaseline on your head and then wash it out.

Braids invariably just get that way, especially during the winter when it gets dry. Go to a hair products store, preferably one that specializes in products for black folks, and ask for a spray. They make ones that are especially for cornrows and relieving the itch that comes with them.

Did you wash your hair after taking out the last set? Did you use some oil or grease when you put in the second set? It could be that you are either allergic to what you put into your hair or that your head needed to be washed.

If there was hair added when they were put in you may be allergic to the chemicals that they use to treat the extensions. I am allergic and I can't wear any hair, human or synthetic, that directly touches my scalp.
