The usual problem with converters is power. Make sure you connect the SATA cable and a power cable to the IDE converter, and that powers the board to do the conversion. If you have done that, enter the BIOS and check your SATA settings to ensure they are still enabled. Good luck!

Those things are so hit or miss, just get a SATA HDD, it is so much faster and you dont have to deal with the dumb ribbon cables.

You might have to install the SATA drivers that came with your motherboard
