I would suggest going to a local soup kitchen or somewhere that serves the needy a Christmas dinner. They can always use the extra help. Or, go visit somewhere that can use the help and a smiling face like maybe the children's wing at a hospital, an elderly rest home, lots of places. Check with the places you plan to visit of course!
Try not to let the holiday get you down if you're alone, make the most of it. Sometimes helping the less fortunate, you come out receiving more than you gave.

You know, one can be perfectly HAPPY ALONE on Christmas Day (and I am going to enjoy my FIRST Christmas ALONE in Peace and Quiet for sure -- since this Long-Term Single Parent of two disabled children just became an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree!) -- or ...
YOU can choose to isolate yourself and be lonely -- and to solve that problem ... here are a few suggestions:
Look in your local paper -- there are usually some activities for singles on Christmas Day -- they would be a good thing to go to if you are LONELY and craving company ...
Also look for Volunteer Organizations (like the Military Service Organizations, the Salvation Army, the Churches, and others of the same) -- and VOLUNTEER to serve or help prepare Christmas Dinner for those in need ... this can include Elder Services too ...
Attend a service in your faith -- there are usually special Christmas Day events there ...
See what's open for Christmas Day parties or events -- sometimes the Bowling Center will open for Family time ... or Christmas day activities ...

I may be spending x-mas Alone but that does not in any way mean that I am LoneLY. I usually watch my regular tv shows unless there is a good movie on and eat chips and dips, then on X-mas day I fix a breakfast that I rarely have and a nice big thick juicy t-bone steak, and watch maybe x-mas movies.
