Here along the New England seashore, many of them are used to help retain our sand dunes. (They're buried along the beach.)

We always take our christmas tree to get it turned into mulch then buy the mulch back and spread it around the areas where we need them most, not only does it make for good mulch it also makes the yard smell like mountian pine, we have been doing this for many years way before i was born.

My great grandpa started a Pine tree garden way back in the 1920's and we have been planting them, watching them grow, then using them for Christmas, then turning them into mulch

Some cities have special pick ups that take and mulch them for use in the parks.

i do not know because my family uses a christmus cactus. they are very pretty plants and bloom only during christmas, or so i am told. what i see is quite differnt...my great grand mas cactus has siense befor i was born bloomed almost all year round. they are very pretty plants with pink flowers and no needles!

Alot of local communities will recycle them for mulch for use around town.

lots of things...some are dumped in the landfill (waste), some are turned into mulch (yeah) some are dumped in lakes to make cover for small fish (yeah) some are dumped in the woods to provide cover for birds and small animals (yeah)
