Absolutely. If anything, lawyers opinions vary far more in professional matters than doctors. You should go to more than one attorney to review your matter if you don't feel comfortable with what you have already heard. Some attorneys allow for free consultations. Others charge for them. You should be able to get an informal case analysis from a few attorneys sufficient to decide where you want to go with the case.

Yes, there is such a thing but remember you are swimming with the sharks.

Actually an attorney friend of mine did sue on behalf of a client who claimed malpractice on an attorney representing him for a labor matter and my friend won the lawsuit for the disgruntled client.

You can get a second opinion for anything. If you're concerned your lawyer isn't doing the best job for you then I would definitely get a second opinion.

Of course there is. Keep in mind we are dealing with attorneys here, and it all depends who you speak to and what their specialty is. Just make sure you are dealing with an atty who is familiar with your type of situation and if you don't like her/his answer then you may be successful asking another, then again they may have the same answer for you. I deal with atty's on a daily basis, they don't always have the right answers (in fact, quite often they don't).
