What format is your DVD-rip movies? When I think of DVD-rip, I think of an AVI file that is recorded in Divx format and it is less than 700MB. If this is the case, then burn the movie to a CD-R. If you have a DVD player that supports Divx, then you should be able to watch it. If you don't have a Divx dvd player, then you are stuck watching the movie on your computer.

If the DVD rip is a bunch of VOB files and is up to 4.7GB in size, then you need to use a program like Nero to burn the files on a DVD. This type of format can be viewed on any DVD player.
