My 13 year old cousin is pregnant by her 18 year old boyfriend. She concieved at age 12. I talked to DHR and they investigated but did nothing. Her mother doesn't care enough not to give parental consent. DHR suggested they be chapperoned from now on. Is there not an age limit on parental consent where the law can step in anyway? This is ridiculous!

DHR can press charges for not paying child support, child endangerment, Child abuse, anything that hurts a child. They can also take kids out of homes where they are being abused or neglected. I'd say it's neglect to allow your 12 year old daughter to get pregnant by an adult.

Umm dear you need to go to the police, what that gud did was child molesting and he can go away for a very long time for it.

Nobody has any say on him going to jail, not even the girl he got pregnant. By law anyone 18 years of age or older who has sex with anyone under 16 is child molesting.

WTF is the matter with her parents that they would elt her sleep with someone at 12 and for that matter with an adult? She probably does not even comprehend the serious mess she has got herself into.

I can tell you that everything said by amosunkno is FALSE. If it gets back to the police that a 18 year old has sex with a 12 year old child he will go to jail, the parents of the girl and the girl herself can fight all they want but he will go to jail and actually at the age of 12 the parents of the girl do have a right to make the girl give up the baby unless she can prove she has a stable place to live and can support the baby

what the hell.

first of all that is illegal!!

an adult CANNOT have sexual intercourse with a minor and at 12 she if for sure a minor.

And for that matter, a 18 year old can only be with someone of the age of consent, which is 16. and even then that's risky.

her mother is a ******* moron and needs to be shot in the face for letting her daughter be a slut and getting knocked up by an 18 year old.

what the hell is wrong with parents now days...

the baby that your cousin is having needs to be taken away by childrens services because no 13 year old should raise a child. sorry but she's not even in high school and that's not right.

Ever been to kentucky? This sort of thing happens there regularly. My great gramma was from there, and she got 'married' at BARELY 14, and had her first baby at 15, and had 11 total.

So long as the parent (and child) gives concent that child who bacame pregnant can become the responsibility of the man who made her so.

Its a gray area with the law. So long as the minor wants the baby, she has the right to carry it to term and mother it. And so long as the father of that baby wants to provide for the mother and child, or atleast the child, and the parents of that child are not interested in pressing charges, then the court leaves it as that.

Its ugly, but it happens.

I don't know what DHR is but i guess it would differ from state to state. My mom was told that at 16 it is the girls right to choose when it came to me. but 12 and 18 thats just sick. something needs to be so that this guy don't get any othe little girls pregnant.

The Department of Human resourses is there to help your cousin deal with her pregnancy/child. They will provide her counseling, medical care, and may provide her with financial support. They are not there as a regulatory or judiciary entitiy. They are as much "the law" as you are. They may be appalled, they may want to go cut off the guy's privates, but being bound by ethics they cannot.

It is the police that need to be contacted about her rape.

to me she is a minor, and he is condsider an adult. If it really bothers you call child services and see what you can do.
