mommy of 3 here - I's just give it to him once a day, between lunch/dinner for now (the veggie) I wouldn't mix the veggie with his cereal, let him have it on it's own. Cereal with fruit in the morning, veggie for lunch/afternoon, cereal in the evening. No need to rush things!!

Until he is able to get enough nutrition for the day with solid foods, his primary consumption should be milk (either breast milk or formula), which can be mixed with cereal to start making time periods between feedings longer. He needs to continue to get breast milk/formula until he is at least 1, however you should be gradually increasing his fruits and vegetables, and eventually more advanced food (Spagettio's) to fulfill his nutritional needs enough that by his first birthday his milk intake is mostly used as a drink to accompany his meal (after 1 year he can have regular milk if he is not allergic).

Well umm at 5 months 0 and 0
Here is some advice:
http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/solids-how.html
4 - 6 months Breastmilk only
6 - 7 months Offer solids once a day, at most. Many start out offering solids every few days or even less often.
7 - 9 months Watch baby's cues - this is particularly easy if baby nurses beforehand and most/all of the solids are offered to baby to self-feed. Increase solids gradually if baby is interested, with a maximum of 2 meals per day
9 - 12 months Watch baby's cues - this is particularly easy if baby nurses beforehand and most/all of the solids are offered to baby to self-feed. Increase solids gradually if baby is interested. Aim for baby getting no more than 25% of her calories from solids by the age of 12 months (some babies eat less than this at 12 months and that's also normal).

It depends on your baby's appetite. I have been a home daycare provider for 14 years and have lots of experience inrtroducing food to infants. I typically will feed the baby cereal and fruit for breakfast, veggie and fruit for lunch, and veggie and cereal for dinner. Your baby will let you know how hungry he is. Let him determine when he is done so he will continue to know when he is full.

By now you should be able to tell when he is hungry. Feed him as often as needed, All kids are different so no one can tell you how often to feed him. A solid is a solid, so feed him what you'd like. Though before bed time cereal is very filling and might help him sleep longer.

At this age most of their nutrients should still come from milk. Check out either www.babycenter.com or the Gerber website and it should have some kind of chart on there. also not ALL pediatricians go by the age of 6 months for giving solids. Some say 4 months so please quit giving bad ratings to people if you do not know what her baby's doctor told her to do. You do not knoe her or her baby!

It quite quite relies upon on the toddler. With my first, all of us started solids at basically in the previous 6 months and gave him one meal an afternoon for some week, then as much as two, then 3, and with the help of the time he grew to become into approximately 6 and 0.5 months, he grew to become into having 3 nutrition an afternoon, plus milk and finger nutrition snacks.... With my youthful one, besides the undeniable fact that, he all started solids at 14 weeks because of the fact he grew to become into feeding continually- and he had 3 nutrition an afternoon rather much at present. it quite is demanding alongside with your first, yet attempt to be led with the help of what the toddler looks to choose. At 5 and a 0.5 months, he may well be having 3 nutrition an afternoon- if he looks to choose them- yet while he would not, it quite is large to attend. i comprehend that looks slightly obscure, yet there quite isn't any one single answer- and heath experts who attempt to furnish you one length suits all suggestion at the instant are not doing you any favours, because of the fact babies are all different! If he takes area in the nutrition, pass forward, provide him yet another meal an afternoon, and truthfully provide him some elementary to devour finger meals, alongside with rice cakes, banana, and so on and rather quickly, he would be eating what you devour- albeit slightly mashed up!

Hon your a mom and ultimately it is your decision. I started all 3 of my kids with apple or banana mixed in their cereal in the morning. Lunch time I gave them a bottle of milk and for dinner they had either the cereal with fruit....or half a jar of orange veggie then half a jar banana or apple.
Does that make sense?

feed them when they are hungry, 3-5 times a day, but you will also notice that the baby will not drink as much do not be alarmed as since they are eating more food, there is less room for liquid.
If your baby eats one small jar at a sitting then thats fine.... do not over feed your baby though. or he or she will throw up or become fat
