After 2 weeks, my tree is starting to droop a bit. I have watered regularly, and even added a little sugar and aspirin..does anyone have any other suggestions?

When the x-mas lights are off, mist it with water as often as possible (daily).

Keep your living room temperature lower than average...or at least keep the tree away from heat sources.

Make sure there is a fresh cut on the bottom of the trunk no longer than about half an hour before you put it in water.

Put ice cubes in the water reservoir if you can fit them (some people use a big bucket not a tree stand).

Get some tree preservative ( iIveforgotten the name of it) I think it has sugar in it.

Also, hydrogen peroxide (the stuff you use for first aid or cleaning) works well to keep the water clear of bacteria and possibly provide more oxygen to the tree cells; mix one part hydrogen peroxide to about 4 parts water in the reservoir.

Dano:

One other preventive measure is to fine spray with water the branches of the tree of course at a time when the Christmas lights are in the off position. It sounds as though the tree was cut to soon and you appear to be taking all of the right preventative measures. I would keep a close eye on the tree and if it is showing signs of dryness get rid of it. It is not worth your safety or the safety of others.

Happy Holidays!
