Perhaps the use of the word "butt" can now be used more freely, and is more socially accepted, whereas 20 years ago, "buck naked" was the only term one could use without sounding coarse.

Many people in today's day and age say "butt naked" simply because it sounds more vulgar that "buck naked". Hence, they get more of a thrill out of it.

But, butt makes more sense than buck...this is English and we are allowed to change terms, sayings, spellings any dern way we choose...Now YOU get with it...the term is now BUTT not buck!!!!

good question... but i really think we should concentrate on their spelling first... have you read some of the posts in here? I hope that some of them are ESL students but am frightened that this is not the case
