Sadie, The northern panhandle area of Florida is especially nice this time of year. That is if you just want get away. But if she would be open to Disneyworld in Orlando or EPCOT. If you want to take your buddy somewhere in January, do you really think they want the Bahamas? OK that last one was a joke. i think you should take her to a ski resort or something. that way, while they take a nap or just relax in a hot tub ( if they have one), you can go looking for a gift. maybe the rockies or the sierra nevada depending on where you live. you don't want to waste about $2,154 on the trip, DO YOU? Oh, one more thing: for her present, why don't you buy her a complete set of warm and fuzzy waredrobe coplete with slippers and all. or a necklace with (at least) a 2karat diamond, any color. it's your homie, your choice.

Of course it depends on where you are leaving from, whether your mom is ok with flying, and what kind of weather you are looking for. Hot sun, beach, you'll probably need to get far down south or the Carribean. I took my mom to Bermuda and she loved it, but it may not be south enough for real hot days. Gambling - head down to the gulf shore of Mississippi. They have done a lot of work rebuilting after Katrina. You could catch the impersonator show they have down there - it is great.

Where does your mom live now? Try not going too far since she doesn't get out often. It might be more stressful to her than fun. Go visit the state capitol or a major city within your state or a neighboring state. Have fun;

take her to the ski slopes. rent a hotel in town ( not at the lodge) and let her take in the view and attractions (if she doesn't ski) or if she wants to try it, there's always the bunny hill. Window shopping in those small town's are a mom's dream come true. Good luck and happy holidays.

You can take her on a train trip around the country they are nice pretty cheap i think
