It is interesting that we do not consider theological and philosophical questions and reasons for the way in which we worship God. Perhaps if we venture into the realm of doubt and questions we will discover something in God greater to worship.

Because the only way that we can understand the concept of God's power is to anthropomorphize it, as we anthropomorphize many of His other characteristics. It is difficult for humans to truly understand concepts/ideas/beings that are outside of our frame of reference, so it is necessary to compare them with things we do understand so that we can, in some small way, quantify them.

We describe God as omnipotent. This means all powerful. Believers also know Him as a person and an all powerful person must be big and strong. He is anthropomorphised in Scripture and described as having hands and feet; He has also been seen in visions as having a body which can be described in human terms. Man is described as having been created in God's image and the very word image suggests a perceptible, physical resemblance. Our finite minds cannot grasp the greatness of God: for the moment we see Him "as in a glass darkly" and we await our passage into eternity and having a clearer view.

I don't see god as a physical entity, but more of a presence, or " great spirit" in native American terms. I also see God in art, and really anything inspiring or creative, in the stars, the ocean the moon...God isn't an old bearded guy in a bathrobe, he, she, it is anything and everything. We are a part of God, and he is a part of us. hope this helps.

this is exactly why i do not believe that "men are created in the image and likeness of god"... because we are the ones creating the image of god.

god is depicted as big and strong maybe so people will fear him.

nobody knows what god looks like, or what form god assumes, or what god's gender is... (if god even has a gender) etc.

People who do stuff we can't are considered strong. God is just a different sort of person. Same principal though.

No one on earth can touch us as He does, He knows all depth even the secret places of my heart yet His love is strong enough to lift my heavy burdens and gentle to heal the pain of my wound, He is all of these and more. He is the Love I have always hoped to know. Yes God is my secret Love.

I never think of him as big and strong but kind and loving. I think god is the ultimate perfection in all of us.

God is Love.

Love cannot be conceptualised. It has no end or beginning, no higher or lower and therefor no centre.

Your mind is limitation (measurement) and Love is limitless. (immeasurable).

So, to the tiny mind Love seems pretty big.
