Ortho Tri-Cyclen pill can. It really depends on your personal chemistry and lifestyle how much they do. The pill decreases the amount of an oil producing hormone.

Most birth control pills will clear up acne to an extent. I've known doctors to prescribe birth control only for the skin benefits.

Yes, they help some. Lees so now that dosage has dropped down so much. When I was young they were dramatic enough that you could tell the girls on the pill from those not by their clear skin.

There has been one that I know of that really does clear up acne. It is called Ortho-Tri Cyclen. The bad news is that there is now a generic form, so it may not be covered by medical insurance anymore.

I have not heard that it does either one, but does not mean that some new ones might help.
BCP can cause you to have dark brown splotches on your face.
Check with your dermatologist (skin doctor) to find out or ask your GYN doctor for the best one.
A tip for you: If you have insurance, they usually prefer you use generic brands instead of name brands, because it costs them less and you as well.
