I had two pet rats. One of them passed in march, but the other is still healthy. For food, I suggest that you don't buy the rat food, because it contains corn, and that is poison to them. I have two dogs, and we fed our rats the dog food and itworked fine (probally dry dog food is best). An aquariam would be okay, but it would need a lid with air holes of course. Please do get a lid though, rats are great jumpers and could get out very easily. A cage would probally be your best bet though. My rats, Bella and Ripley, (ripley passed away) loved to rip up old toilet paper rolls. They will most likely chew throuogh any plastic or fabric. About the cage, dont get one with a plastic bottom because my rats chewed a whole that they could fit through. Name wise, I think thats a nice name. It can be anything you want...but it also depends on what the rat looks like. I would try to keep your rat and dog separate, because the dog may attack the rat. It would be best to buy more than one rat, so they have company because they work very well together. It's best to buy either two males or two females, unless you want baby rats. I had two females and it worked great! As for where to get one, pretty much any pet store would be okay. I don't believe that you need to change your home for the rat. Rats only live for about 2-3 years, and they are full of character. You will most likely get attached easily. Give it LOTS of attention, ecspecially if you only get one rat. Also, rats are the closest small animal to a dog, so you will bond... :)hope it works out:)

A couple at a time. The hardest though - HICKORY STICKS... I LOVE those things, and it's impossible to eat one by one, a couple at time is useless and a handful is just plain messy.
