While you can't get teh money back, it is a fee, you are entitled to the credit report, back ground check, etc if you are rejected. Some may accept these from you instead of making you pay to have the same thing done again.

Application Fees are non-refundable, non-returnable. The fee is to process your application which will probably include any and all credit checks, background checks, judgement checks

While there is no set maximum for the application fee, there are maximums that can be charged for the credit check.

It is all dependent upon the apartment's policy. You usually do not get them back. They are there to pay for background, credit checks, etc. From what I have seen you will not get it back if you do not get approved for the apt. However, I have seen where if you sign up for direct debit to pay your rent, you would get the application fee back.

You don't get application fees back. It's not a deposit. The money is used to pay for credit checks, background checks, paying someone to do the checks, etc.

The application fee is paid to the rental for the processing of paperwork and to check your credit rating. You don't get it back. You need to check with your state because some have limits as to what they can charge.

Ask the apartment manager/leasing office your questions. It varies and depends on the city where you live.
