Personally, I think that for your mum to feel the 'Christmas spirit' she needs to get away from the 'commercial Christmas' that we have to endure at this time of year.
The way I see this happening is for you and your mother (well, the whole family actually) to spend some time together doing something like making Xmas decorations, or may be cooking some Christmas pudding / mince pies together. You could even do something as silly as singing some Christmas carols (at home when no-body's listening!)
Personally, I'm not a Christian, however the whole thing that gets me about Christmas is the way everyone gets together and looks forward to some snow. I love being about in town during Christmas because everyone is so amazingly friendly.

She may be stressed out about having to orgainse lots and not had time for her to realise its almost christmas and therefore get into the x-mas spirit.
Maybe try to help her out, buy her some chocolates and put on some christmas songs and help her wrap the presents.,to try to make her feel a bit chrissmasy.
Take her xmas shopping, lots of cities have christmas markets at this time of year so you could take her for a wander round there and have a glass of mulled wine.

Plan a good old fashoned christmas with the tree, eggnog and everything. Go around singing some Christmas songs (make sure she hears deck the halls!- this should inspire her to do the same) watch some christmas movies (the classics) and maybe some home videos. Get her in the mood for the holidays!
Candycanes anyone?

Leave her alone! The poor woman is probably spending a fortune on presents, plus all the food and drink for the family, and she knows she'll spend most of Christmas morning peeling sprouts and stuffing a turkey.
No wonder she's fed up.
Now, if you offered to cook Christmas dinner AND wash up afterwards, you might find she'd perk up a bit.
PS And don't bother going round the house with fairy lights. Go round it with a hoover, a duster and a tin of Pledge instead.

Take her to see the decorations, watch a favorite Christmas movie together, go to a church musical. There are any number of things you could try. If none of these cheer her up, you're right, she has no Christmas spirit.

Make some time to spend with her, just the two of you. Sounds like she might be lonely.
And to the person who corrected the Xmas thing. Do some reading. X represents Chi, which is the basis for the "christian fish" It was a symbol the early church used to identify each other without persecution, and you are showing your ignorance, not spreading your faith.

Time for a Christmas movie fest! Rent or buy "Elf" "A Christmas Story" and "Christmas Vacation" -- bake Christmas cookies together, listening to your favorite Christmas music, and eat them while watching the movies.

One reason might be because she is stressed about the preperations for making a perfect holiday for her family. Simply telling her that it's okay if everything is not picture-perfect might ease some of her stress. As soon as I learned that rule, all my Christmases have gotten much more pleasurable.
If that doesn't work-- call Ghostbusters. Hee hee!
