If you can, open a window for about 1/2 hour. Here it's too cold so I would suggest lighting a candle with a match. The match will help kill the smell fast and so will the candle. If you have a ceiling fan, turn that on as well. Clean your microwave really well with a kitchen cleaner to get the smell out of there or the next thing you make will taste bad.

Fill a microwavable mug with water and lemon juice (the amount is up to you I'd put in about a quarter of the mug of the juice) and microwave that on high for about 4 minutes or so till it boils. That'll not only help clean your microwave but leave it smelling really fresh. You'll notice the burnt smell will be gone too.

Cook some cabbage- or
At the store there is a product called Ozium that neautralizes odors and should help this burned smell. Should be with the other scented sprays.
This has always been the best smell reducer I have found.
Good luck-

boil a pot of water with lemons, orange, cinnamon, clove and allspice berries in it. you may also want to spray your microwave out with white vinegar and then put some lemons in a bowl of water and steam the micro for 5-10 min. Open the windows.
I did the same thing with popcorn last thanksgiving.!!

Use orange/lemon peelings in your microwave. Also put halved onions in different places in your kitchen to absorb the odor. You can do this to eliminate paint odors too. Good luck.

Candles only mask the odor. Open a window and get the fumes out first of all, no matter how cold it is out. Make sure oyu clean it out right away.
