I have been working through a temp service for the past 6 months. I was told that "after 480 hours, you will get hired on." Well, I've worked over 800 hours, I've worked all the crap jobs, over time, and everything else they have asked me to do yet still not hired on. Not to mention that they can't get my freaking paycheck right. I'm still waiting on $200 they owe me from 2 weeks ago from screwing up my overtime pay. Today, my boss had the nerve to tell me I had to work Saturday. What is the point to that? I don't CARE anymore if they are behind at work. I'm $200 short on my bills thanks to those morons. If you were in this situation, would you even bother to go in on Saturday? Most likely it will take them a month to pay you your wages.

Believe me, I have a very big mouth. They hear it everyday that I deserve to get hired on. All I get told is that they aren't hiring. I'm also looking for a new job at the moment.

If you have been on a temp job for that long it does not mean that the company you have been working at is not going to hire you. My question is have you spent the 800 hours at one place?Where I work they have hired a few people through Temp agencies. It gives them a chance to feel out the workers. Some got hired in a few weeks other have took longer than six months. If you are hired by the company usually they will have to pay a fee to the agency, so that is why they may be lagging. I do feel bad that they owe you money, I know what it is like to really need a few hundred dollars. Could you speak with your supervisor (at the job) and have them give you a straight up answer on whether or not you are going to be hired permanently? Make sure you approach them in a positive light. Stating that you like the job, atmosphere, etc...(even if you don't) Depending on their answer would determine whether I went in on Saturday or not. Remember if you are hired permanently you will still be doing a lot of over-time and Saturdays, but of course one plus is that if your check is short it can be taken care of in house. Good Luck!

I understand your frustration, but you don't want to get further behind on your bills do you? This can be an extremely touchy situation, but perhaps you should sit down with your boss and show that you've worked 800 hours and remind them that they told you that you would be hired on after 480 hours. Perhaps it's slipped their minds...it's your responsibility to speak up for what you want/do not want. It's true to the old adage that only the squeaky wheel gets oiled...you have to squeak in order to get what you want. Make sure that you're calm and collected and just let them know that you're willing to work on Saturday if they're willing to hire you on as an employee, otherwise you're going to have to seek out other employment...and be ready to do so. Good luck!

If this is a job you have particular skills for, I'd go in Saturday, but would be looking for another job in that skill area. If it is NOT in a skilled area, you need to go get some skills in something and use those skills to obtain a job full time where you will be paid for your talents. To me, this sounds like a company that you are not happy with even if they did hire you full time. Keep your future recommendations good, but I'd start looking elsewhere, Honey!

Call in sick, take the day to reevaluate your life and find another job. You sound like an extremely hard worker and you may want to either get further education or go into business for your self. This sounds like one of the millions of jobs I've had and they never pan out.

Any work is better than no work when your starving....I guess what Im trying to say is keep working BUT start looking for another position, with you skills there will be a company that will value you and give you a more permanent position. good luck!
