a prestigious university with great class rank , GPA, extra-curriculars, job experience, tons of community service, but with low SAT scores?

If you look at the top universities, you will see that 75% of the incoming students have a combined score of at least 1400 on the math and verbal portions of the SAT.

That still leaves 25% who don't -- so you might have a shot. You can also try taking a preparation class and taking them again.

Even if you can't get into a top ten university, you should still be able to get in someplace pretty good.

Good luck.

In a word yes. As long as you aren't too far below the 25% for the SATs. At most prestigious schools, this hovers around 1350 on the old SATs. However, I do know of people who have gotten into Columbia, Chicago and Penn with SATs in the lower 1300s. Focus on your essays, and do well on SAT IIs, if you must take them. It is very possible.

It depends on the college. A lot of colleges don't look at SAT scores, they will look at your GPA and what not
