No, for it means something else.

Learn means I will take the information with me and use it again and again.

memorzie mean I will learn it for that specific purpose and discard the information once discharged

Offically, no. Both involve processing new information, but the connotation that surrounds "memorize" indicates a more intense and verbatim assimilation with the ability to regurgitate information. To "learn" something seems to suggest a broader understanding with an intense focus in only a few areas, and leaving the "learner" room for free-thinking.

No, to memorize is not to learn. To learn on the highest levels means to know (memorize) comprehend ( understand) Apply, (put to use) Analyze ( be able to understand the parts) Evaluate ( decide on worth) and Synthesize ( be able to use it to apply to new knowledge) Memorization is the lowest form of learning, meaningless and useless unless you can do the other things with the information you memorize.

I think it is best to see these two words as forming a continuum. If you are learning a language, for example, you can still learn it but not understand one word of the new language when someone speaks it to you. You can memorize verb conjugations, for instance, and may still retain something of it when you read or hear a language.

Absolutely not. Learn implies acquiring an understanding of something. One can easily memorize something and understand none of it.

"learn" and "memorize" are very different in meaning.

"learning" connotes understanding. "memorizing" connotes no such understanding. for example, one can memorize "E=mc2," but learning about relativity would require a bit more work.

of course not. learning is actually understanding it. memorizing is just that. it doesn't mean you understand what you memorized.
