ok i have some questions i get ssi benefits and i have a payee now my first question is i want to get cosmetic surgery for my stomach and i wanted to know if my payee is responsible for the payments for the procedure?and my second question is i have medi-cal and i wanted to know if medi-cal will pay for any type of procedure like gastric-bypass and other weight loss procedures?

My guess is that no part of SSI or other gov't assisted programs will pay for cosmetic surgery, just because you want it. They may if it is medically necessary for your health. It rarely is!! Or perhaps in case of restoring after a serious injury/accident.

As for the GP, maybe, but again it must be as a necessity of health. You need to ask them. On the GP, that may be something a Dr. Thinks you need to restore health or even save you life, if and only if that is the case, then I think they just may cover it. An attorney could probably help. Again only if it is a REAL HEALTH ISSUE.

On the cosmetic, if it is not something that seriously and directly affects your health. Then not likely at all. I have very good private insurance and they WILL NOT pay for cosmetic, except in exceedingly RARE cases, of health or injury disfigurement. Most medi-caid and medicare type coverage is very much the same as private ins.
If the surgery is purely cosmetic, I don't even think it is reasonable to expect that they would or should!

With all that said, these are only educated guesses not advice and you need to ask the SSI people or a lawyer. I'm sure California has Legal Aid of some kind.

Your payee would be responsible for pulling the money from your check to pay the doc bills. However, they would not be responsible if you don't have enough to make those payments, that's on you. Since you live off the government, they're not going to pay for anything that isn't absolutely necessary. In most cases weight loss and cosmetic surgeries are not necessary. Also, if medicaid won't pay the vast majority of docs will want full payment up front, there wont' be payments. They want to know you're going to pay them and not risk you cheating them.

if you sign the papers you whold be responsable but your payee whold have to take the cash out of your pay and pay it and no medi cal will only pay for medacly nessasary proceduers nothing cosmetic unles it is a cosmetic procedure that you have to have for some other medical reason

If you are a minor your parents are responsible for all your bills. No doctor is going to do surgery on someone until they know for sure how they are going to get paid, so if you are planning on getting surgery and having someone else pay for it, it is not likely you will succeed. Doctors are not stupid. I don 't know what MediCal pays for, however if you are morbidly obese and in danger of dying, they may cover gastric bypass. The doctor will have to get authorization first.
