I currently ride a SV650S. I bought this because it was my first street bike (I rode dirt bikes my whole life up until then) and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I bought the SV from it's first owner. It was less than a year old, still under factory warranty, and had about 3,400 miles on it. It cost me $3,200. I'm still riding it to this day because I freakin' love this bike. It's almost perfect for me. I doubt I'll ever sell it, although if I had the money I'd like to have a couple of other bikes as well as the SV. Then the problem also becomes where would I put them, because I live in a townhouse with no garage. I may buy a hayabusa to go with the SV. I'd still take the SV with me on vacation to ride the twisty roads but I'd ride the hayabusa on all the straight flat roads around here in South Florida.

Cool. I like the Nortons from way back.
I'm riding a Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda Transalp, and a Honda 750 chopper depending on my mood.
Each bike has its purpose. The 'busa is my main ride and I tour on it putting 48,000 miles on it between July 2004 and now. The Transalp is used for riding the trails and the more inaccessible areas. 3,000 miles since I got it this summer. The Honda is my project bike. I spec'd it and built it. It's currently torn down for the winter and I'm working on some new parts. It's for riding around town and being cool :)
I used to ride a Harley and had a Goldwing for a short time but I couldn't take the seating position for long distances (put 47,000 miles on my two Harley's between Sept 2001 and Sep 2004).
So for now, I'm on the bikes of choice. That may change as I get older (almost 50 now).
Nice bike. Ride safe.

Thats a nice looking Norton.
I've got a GSX-R 750 K5 mainly because it wheelies real easy and has the weight of a 600.
As far as being mz bike of choice, well yes it was but that little edge of disatisfaction didn't take too long to set in and now I'm looking for the next bike of choice. I've had a lot of bikes so my next bike of choice is going to have to be pretty special. My dream was a concept bike from the 80's never seen anything like it since.

Its actually called the Nuda - the guy has spelt it wrong. The designer of the bike is the same guy that designed the burgman apparently!
Anyway - good luck going for your dream - bikes are fab!

Holy Smokes!
You are poor? Are you sure?
That Norton Commando 961 SS is a lot of bike!
And a big step up from where you are now.
Not to suggest that you can't handle it because with a little practice anyone can.
But I am envious!
I ride a derssed out Harley Dyna Super TC88 and I am still envious!
I say if you can swing it with that Norton then go for it!
That is deffinately not a girlie bike!
And you are going to get lots of complements and respect and thumbs up that you have never experienced with the Honda XBR500,
I guarantee that!
The Triumph Tiger is a sweet bike too.

Hi there
Personally I ride a Harley (Screamin Eagle).
Due in the main to my age grouping I havea number of bikes and thoroughly enjoy rebuilding British classics generally Triumph's. I very rarely ride them and normally sell them on
I prefer the modern bike for every imaginable reason. Used to ride a Honda GL1500 Goldwing and had a few of those and still own one
Moved on to Harley three years ago and I am currently waiting for my new one to arrive in March 2007
Well that's it. I think it's all a matter of choice and there is a great deal to choose from. Just ride safe and enjoy it and "beware the car driver" they just seem to be out to get you.
Keep the shiny side up and the rubber on the road

Nice choice the Norton but that bike isn't cheap. To me a real blood and guts biker has two bikes, one in your face open bike like your Norton and one nice "keep-me dry" bike. I could not afford two bikes so it was the BMW 1200klt, a 833 pound full fairing monster that is light on its feet.
I ride 64 miles 5 days a week, and get 51 mpg with all of the creature comforts.

My Suzuki Bandit 1200 is exactly what I want. Oh, hang on, it's not a Triumph Speed Triple, so it isn't. It's great fun, though. Maybe you should try a Bandit 600; they are very cheap to run and quite enjoyable. The American "Norton" looks nice, I must admit, but I wouldn't be inclined to trust it. At the end of the day, though, any bike is good, and much more fun than a car - just not in the current UK weather conditions!

I have an '82 Honda CB900 That has been altered to fit me. It is a hardtail and it looks like it was never a Honda except for the carbs and the exhaust..and where it still says Honda on it...somewhere..
Happy Bikin!
It doesn't matter what kind of bike you have as long as you are on the two wheels that make you feel like you should!

I wasn't aware that Norton was still in business.I had to go to the web sight you gave and check it out. It's a great lookin' bike.I own several Harleys, my favorite one is my '87 Lowrider because Ive done lots of my own customizing to it. I also own a '59 Panhead, an '03 Wide glide, and my first real bike, a '75 Sporster which I hang on to for sentimental reasons.Good luck on that new Norton, it's a very respectable ride.My buddy has an old 850 Commando and he loves it.

I ride a 2006 883C Sportster Harley Davidson. It is my first choice since I am a beginner biker but I will eventually get a Softtail or Road King. I prefer cruisers since they are generally better bikes and more comfortable. Besides, Harley's are a lot cooler than the vast majority of other bikes.
