.Anybody who joined any military reserve component during Vietnam did it out of sheer cowardice. Bush had to have his family pull strings to get him in because competition was so great his drunk driving offense should have disqualified him. But the rich take care of the rich. The Washington elite had already made the decision not to use the reserves so it was a legal way to draft dodge and everybody knew it. Cheney got so many college deferments he should have been considered a professional student and limbaugh was just as big a bad joke then as he is now

No. Maybe I'm a little bit jaded, but I don't consider any of the people who now call themselves "war heroes" (Kerry, especially) of actually being war heroes.
Reason for this? My dad: Vietnam and Korean War vet. SHOT three times in Vietnam (and still stayed until his tour was up, although it meant missing the birth of his and my mom's first child), and twice in Korea. He fought in the Korean War at the age of 17.
So. Call Bush, Cheney and Limbaugh what you will, but Bush still has one over Clinton: He actually served in the military.
I don't hold Limbaugh in high regards anyway. To be honest, sometimes I think he's a Democrat out to make Republicans look bad.
I have mixed feelings about Cheney. His deferments have only been publicized because of his position. Many others did the same thing. Granted, I don't agree with what he did, but I understand it, and it was certainly better than other people (who dodged the draft by hiding out in Canada, or protested the war vehemently.).
Besides, there have been several US presidents who served in the military without serving in a war. And there have ALSO been some who sent thousands of troops to their deaths, and didn't serve at all (Wilson. He was a great president, but still.).

Before you criticize, walk a mile in the other man's mocassins.

Bush was in the Reserves, and his unit was not sent to 'Nam. Limbaugh was medically disqualified from military service due to a pilonideal cyst.

During 'Nam, where was Bill Clinton? Where was Nancy Pelosi? Where were most of the other Democrats?

WHERE WERE YOU? Big talk, calling other people cowards.

I was in the Reserves, and I didn't see you there. And I stayed in the Army and Army Reserve for 28 years -- where were you all that time?

President Bush served in the Texas Air National Guard durring Vietnam what do call that?
plus your reasoning is faulty, would a person be a coward if they never served in Iraq and then talk "brave" in the future

I served. I continue to serve. I am proud of my service. And they insult me and everyone else who has served when they (metaphorically speaking) pound their chests as speak of how tough they are.

Particularly insulting is wearing a flight suit under the "Mission Accomplished" banner. Another insulting aspect to their character is how they have denigrated people that have served - specifically McCain, Gore and Kerry. Regardless of how you characterize their service, they at least had the courage to wear the uniform during war.

Service and patriotism don't wear party labels. The enemy doesn't care if you're conservative or liberal when you're in their sights.

Maybe the are. The fact is most men of service age at that time did not go.Percentage wise very few did.So it's a moot point and an old one at that.

George Bush was a reservist who was also AWOL for his last year. He has never been held accountable for his actions. He is a first rate screw up that the Republicans love.
