I used to be a major X fanatic back when Chris Claremont wrote for the comic book series.
He created and wrote the great Dark Phoenix, Days of Future Past, and the Brood storylines among other greats.
The movies ruined it for me. They changed so much that it's NOT even the True X-Men anymore.
They are an alternate version of the X-Men from a parallel, bizarro universe, from another timeline and dimension.
But if you really like X-Men, you can do a search for them on wikipedia.

my friends make fun of me because i wanted to go to x3 so bad. ha too bad for them. its not like i was screaming at the screen, loudly, consistently and we were not asked to leave. so that is some improvement right?

When I was little I was obsessed with them. Now I have kinda grown out of it. But I will always remember them. Gambit was my fav.
