Really this does not call for much by todays current standards.

ANYTHING Core 2 Duo will blow your mind.
Go at least 1 GB of RAM. 2 would be better.
7200 rpm HD.

If you can do upgrades yourself you can usually upgrade the RAM and HD cheaper after you buy it.

there are all kinds of laptops that can run that with ease. Look at anything with a intel core 2 duo, and something with 2GB of ram. I'm saying 2 gigs because it'll help smooth everything out, you can do the minimum requirements for programs but they won't run to their full potential.
Also because you'll be storeing music files, look for a good amount of harddrive space, 120gigs just to start.
I'm using an acer 8204wlmi right now and this thing is awesome. It doesn't have a core 2 duo however, I wish I would have waited, but so far nothing has slowed it down. I even run CAD software for work on it.
I would also take a look at http://www.voodoopc.com
these beat alienware anyday. alienware used to be good but now they rely on their name. You pay a premium for that alienware name.

Pentium 3 1 GHz
Athlon 1.33 GHz
WWW.native-instruments.com

you might want to go to their website for more info but this wouldn't be considered a high standard in todays laptops

Your specs look useful sufficient to attend to optimal subject concerns which you will throw at it. the subject concerns you're experiencing with occasional unresponsiveness are better in all probability on the placement bear in mind of a few form of undertaking technique you have working, not the widely used velocity of the computing device. If the completed GUI freezes for random short sessions, it oftentimes shows that some ingredient is attempting to seize incredibly hardware and timing out. attempt scuffling with any pointless courses that start up at as quickly as at boot up. concentration on courses that are tied to hardware in any way, on the comparable time with something it quite is used for CD burning, any app it quite is monitoring a suitable hardware gadget on the comparable time with a printer, and so on. additionally, presented that it quite is Vista, be sure you have as much as this ingredient drivers for all your hardware. If that would not clean it up, i ought to run a attempt for malware. you may acquire Spybot S&D or Adaware to examine for that. I be wakeful you're utilising ALOT of RAM. scuffling with pointless techniques ought to probable help alot.
