They have different beliefs.
It's part religion but it's mostly politics. If Jews and Muslims can get along everywhere else, then why can't they get along in Israel and Palestine? Because of the politics that are involved. I mean, you'll never hear about a Muslim in the US blowing up a synagogue. It's all politics. People around the world in general are very peaceful. But whenever nationalism and politics get involved, well that's where massive bloodshed happens.
I also don't think that's it's fair to generalize all Israelis and Palestinians as enemies of each other. There are many Muslim, Arab politicians, judges and other respected members of society in Israel. It's hard to find that in Palestine (because of uncontrolled militants) but if you go to other more moderate middle east nations like Lebanon, you'll find high ranking Jews and Christians.
Like I said, it's all media hype. There are more Muslims getting along with Jews (And vice versa) than there are Muslims hating Jews (and vice versa).

It isn't that simple. From the Bible, when God "gave" the Jews the promised land, they were instructed to kill every last existing native of that land because the Jews were God's chosen people. The Palestinians are the descendants of those people & the Jews still think they are God's chosen.
There is another side to the story, of course, which is most Palestinians do not believe the Jewish nation has a right to exist. They have a point since the Jews that created the Jewish state were almost all immigrants from Europe at the end of WW II.
Now, other than the fact that the Israelis want to keep all the best land in the area for themselves, they have a valid point also. They cannot exist within the same nation as equals because the Muslims would soon be the majority, which would end the Jewish state.

What if someone told you that you're wrong; that we should not grow up and be able to share, and that we shouldn't teach our children to be tolerant of others because we're fundamentally different from them? You'd disagree becuase to you, tolerance and sharing is the 'right' thing to do. It's hard to understand how there'd be any other way. Well that's why the Israelis and Palestinians can't get along.
They each have different ideas on what is 'right'. They each have different ideas of what justice is, so there can never be a just compromise between them. And when each side's religious doctrines designate the land as theirs, they wholeheartedly believe it without question. If they did question it, they would be compromising their faith, and in a land where religion is central to a person's life, that can never happen.

Alex what you have to understand is that this goes back to the end of WWII, even further if you want to get into the real specifics but I’ll just explain this part only. At the end of WWII the Jews “Israel” was given the holy land “Jerusalem.” All the other countries “Muslim” was promised this land too by the allied forces. But after what happened to all the Jews, the millions that were tortured and murdered you know the “holocaust” was given this land in compensation for the torture and mass killings that they endured. Therefore since then all the countries in the Middle East still hate them and want to kill them so they can retake the holy land that they think they deserve and were promised.

because it is an ongoing battle between the sons of abraham... isaac, his rightful son, and ishmael, his illegitimate child... since God promised abraham that he would be the father of many nations and that his decendants would be blessed and prosperous, both groups of decendants are equally blessed... because hagar and ishmael were sent away by abraham and sarah, the seed of bitterness towards his younger half brother was planted into ishmael's heart. thus is the hatred of islamics toward israelis... this ongoing conflict in the middle east will not subside until judgement day... and might i just add that it is not the israelis who are being the babies here... they are soley centered around the idea of peace... it is the islams who are acting like children, and the israelis are only defending themselves when needed.

You are not thinking straight. The human mind only knows what it is taught. the human mind only knows what it sees. If you were born and raised in a war torn environment, you would think the same way they do. They don't know any different. Just like we don't know any different than how we live. they see us the same way we see them. besides, the wars in the Middle east aren't about land and occupation, they are about beliefs. This is why they have been fighting for hundreds of years and will probably be fighting for another hundred years.

Desecration of holy land, Jerusalem and surround area is a hotbed of religious history, Solomons castle is the same spot Muhammed ascended into heaven. Everyone believes that their religion is the right one, and to have anyone else there worshipping the same spot for different religions is an insult to their faith. Thats about as far as i understand it.

because God promised that land to the Jews and
the palestinians took it from them for a while.
Now that the Jews have it back, the palestinians still think it is their land and want it back.
Guess what?
God says they will never get it back
but I guess they think it is worth dying to try.
