Look up the band DragonForce.
They're speedmetal, one of the HARDEST genres because of the incredibly fast playing required.

I would reccomend Lynyrd Skynyrd because thier guitars are so synchronized and the solo in Free Bird is totally insane. also Megadeth has some sweet riffs.

A band called "King's X" has very intricate music. I would recommend them. The music and the vocal harmonies are complex, especially the older stuff.
