what you dont understand is that we are not trying to force a democracy on people we are trying to stop the non democracy powers from stopping our democracy. If we really wanted to make every country a democracy we would have been in alot more places than Iraq. Its the radical muslims that are saying a democracy doesnt work and it should be dismantled and a caliph should rein supreme. Below is a letter to bush from Ahmadenijad. Really read what he is saying.

Western Democracy is based on English common law, which has roots in Ancient Celtic law and Roman laws and ideals.
Ancient Celtic laws came from all over Europe as the Celts controlled pretty much all of Europe until the Roman's rose to power.
Roman law is based heavily on Greek laws and ideas and with Roman contributions.
Greek laws were influenced by Indian and Arabic laws and ideals.
Arabic laws and ideals were influenced by Indian and Chinese concepts carried along the silk route.
In short, Western Democracy is the sum of mankind's natural striving for fairness. It is an instinct we are born with. One of the first concepts every child develops is a sense of being wronged. This is an instinctive expression of the ideal of justice, even if only applied to themselves.
So the goal of Western Democracy is that core instinct of fairness. It is the driving ideal in all that Democracy represents. As such how could any human being not wish to live in a fair and just world? That basic ideal, core concept is what makes Westerners think that Western Democracy is right for everybody. If you are human then the inborn goal of justice exists. Democracy is the best expression of such justice devised so far.
Unfortunately the West has gotten away from the ideals of Democracy and our founding fathers. Lost touch in such a short time with what made that system fair. So what we have tried to instill in Iraq for example is more like a comercial version rather than true Democracy.

No one said "our style" of democracy will work all over the world. We do say that a democracy by the people is preferable to the alternatives which deny individual freedoms.

Well... Let's look at this, shall we? Australia, Japan, the EU, for the most part, the Americas, the Russian Federation, Turkey... Those are a few examples spanning a vast majority of the continents. Do I need more proof?
As to your freedom to express yourself? Go right ahead. But pre-empting others is only a denial of their own freedom.

It has nothing to do with democracy, that is only the new word to disguise capitalism. Our government is slowly trying to impose economic imperialism across the world, and where better to start promoting "democracy" than the second largest oil reserve on the planet.

It would be racist to say that brown people can't handle democracy as they are mentally inferior and thus should be slaves. However if someone wants to put on a hood and burn a cross etc. etc. that should be their right.

On the part of Dictator Dumbya... arrogance and stupidity. Dumbya doesn't believe in democracy for the USA and the hypocracy is that he would "export" it.
