How personal is this.... for a family dinner at a restaurant. Then instead of using name tags to designate where someone should sit at the table make a little card with a picture of them with a nice design and place that in a placecard stand - available from hospitalitly shops.

If you are talking about a restaurant where there are strangers coming and going..then start with a colour theme for the tablecloths and the napkins, pick something unusual for a table centrie piece, like a statue or an ornament rather than flowers ...you could get very personal with this by chosing something from your own home town.

Or if you lile the sea, try using a peice of driftwood as the table centrepiece and using beige napkins to respresent sand and a white table cloth..keep the colours subtle

Pick something you are interested in life, and then try to find a centrpiece that reflects that.
